Closure without surgery
In the past, congenital holes in the heart (ASD, VSD) were closed with open-heart surgery. Today, closing them without surgery, by catheter through the groin using an umbrella-shaped device, has become widespread.
With this method the procedure is completed without leaving a scar on the body, and the patient goes home the next day.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Aksoy took part in founding the Department of Cardiology at Gaziantep University in 2000 and served as its Head; today he performs angiography and interventional procedures at Medical Point Gaziantep Hospital.
